Mechnical connection : one of the carbon fiber tubes connection methods
There are three main connection methods for carbon fiber pipes: adhesive connection by gluing, mechanical connection, and hybrid connection,
Fllowing is the second one: mechanical connection :
The mechanical connection of carbon fiber pipe includes threaded connection and rivet connection, of which threaded connection can be divided into bolt connection, screw connection, set screw connection, etc. This method can transmit large loads, has good peel resistance, allows reassembly after disassembly, is less affected by the environment, and has no residual stress generated during glue curing. Compared with glued joints, mechanical joints will increase in weight, stress concentration, and relatively high cost.
1. The single shear connection will produce additional bending, which will cause the reduction of the bearing capacity of the joint and the reduction of the connection efficiency, so the connection design is selected as much as possible.
2. Double-shear connection can avoid to choose single-shear connection;
3. If asymmetrical connection forms such as single-shear connection are adopted, multi-row fasteners with as large a row spacing as possible should be used to minimize the bending stress caused by eccentric loading;
4. Due to the poor shaping of carbon fiber composite materials, it will cause uneven distribution of multi-row fastener connection load, so when designing multi-nail connection form, the connection form of no more than two rows of fasteners should be selected as much as possible. Fasteners should be arranged in parallel as much as possible to avoid staggered arrangement to improve the strength of the connection.
5. Reasonable bevel cutting connection can improve the connection strength, but if the design is not reasonable, the bearing capacity of the bevel joint is worse than that of the same thickness connection. The key to the design is the choice of bevel lap plate thickness and fastener diameter.
